In a bid to ensure economic uplift of especially the downtrodden, the government plans to establish a total of 342 multipurpose centres in each constituency of the National Assembly (NA), Minister for Population Welfare Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Monday.

In an Interview with Aaj TV, she said the centres would prove a milestone in poverty reduction from the country. In the centres economic uplift, vocational training and overall capacity building of country's 48 percent youth would be ensured. Besides, a cluster of 10 family health centres would be established especially in rural areas aiming to reduce infant as well as mother mortality ratio.

In each cluster 24 hours across the board free delivery would be conducted. Furthermore, the ministry of Population Welfare has finalised another plan to reduce poverty ratio up to 1.9 per cent within this calendar year. While the population ration would be reduced further by 1.5 per cent by the year 2020.
